Madison Heights is a town in Amherst Country situated right across the James River from Lynchburg. It’s going through same major economic changes right now, and I’m so excited to share this news with you all!
Welcoming Popular Brands
First up, let’s talk about Madison Heights’ growing popularity with big brands! As of now, it recently opened a Starbucks to satisfy your coffee cravings. But that’s not all! Get ready to celebrate as Dunkin Donuts and Cookout are heading their way to Madison Heights soon! The residents are in for a treat with these beloved brands coming to town!
Developers’ Discovery
Developers are also “discovering” Madison Heights. With their interest piqued, the community is set to witness exciting changes in the form of new developments, infrastructure, and improved facilities.
Beautification Efforts
Additionally, Madison Heights is planning a facelift! Efforts are underway to enhance the town’s aesthetics and create a more visually appealing environment. With plans for beautiful green spaces, and walking trails, you’ll have the perfect setting to enjoy your day-to-day activities.
Madison Heights Town Center
Now, picture this – a vibrant town center with a perfect mix of residential and commercial spaces! Madison Heights Town Center, with its high-density mixed-use development, is going to be just that! The Amherst County Board of Supervisors has given the green light for rezoning 170 acres. This means apartments, townhomes, patio homes, single-family homes, and commercial spaces, all complemented by open spaces and a 13-acre park! Talk about convenience and leisure rolled into one!
Amherst Senior Living
And if you’re looking for a wonderful community to settle in during your golden years, Madison Heights has the answer. The upcoming Amherst Senior Living development offers a range of options for individuals aged 55 and over. From independent living apartments to assisted living memory care facilities, this place has got you covered. Plus, they’re planning a pool and community building, along with adjacent commercial space for added convenience!
Huffines/Motor World Townhomes
Additionally, here’s a story of a local entrepreneur giving back to his community. The owner of Motor World received approval to expand his business while constructing 136 townhomes near U.S. 29 Business and Dillard Road. He is looking at building single-story and two-story “upscale” townhomes ranging from $260,000 to $300,000. He told the board he could build townhomes elsewhere and spend less with better land to work with but, “I want to do it in Amherst County,” Huffines said. “This is where I’ve been born and raised. Even if it costs me a little bit more, I want to do it in the county and give back.”
Central Virginia Training Center Redevelopment
Lastly, the Central Virginia Training Center is also getting a fresh start! County leaders wanted to create a place for shopping, dining, housing, and more, but no one wanted to buy something that had millions of dollars of debt. “Removing the $25 million in bonds from the site clears the way for a developer to bring new life, capital investment, and jobs to CVTC after the loss of 1,600 jobs and $87 million in annual economic activity when CVTC closed in 2020,” said Victoria Hanson, Executive Director of Economic Development Authority of Amherst County in a statement. Now that the property is debt-free, developers will now be able to proceed with the next steps in the revitalization of the 350 acres on the James River
And there you have it – the exciting changes coming to Madison Heights! This community is on the rise, offering a wonderful place to live, work, and thrive. Whether you’re a young professional, a growing family, or a retiree seeking a peaceful and dynamic neighborhood, Madison Heights has something special planned for everyone! If you are considering moving to Lynchburg, then I hope this blog post has been informative and helpful in your decision-making process. Thank you and I’ll see you next week!
