After living in Lynchburg for a little over a year, I’ve found and enjoyed many local eats in this area. Now let me share with you some of our favorite local and semi-local spots and maybe they’ll become yours too!
Cookout
The first place we like to go to is Cookout. Cookout is a semi-local fast-food chain that mostly exists in the South East. We go to cookout pretty regularly, since it’s fast, easy and cheap. Additionally, cookout is known for its fantastic shakes where you can mix and match the flavors. I almost always get a Mocha Oreo Peanut Butter Shake and it’s fantastic!
Rivermont Pizza
For a great pizza option, check out Rivermont Pizza. Rivermont Pizza has amazing wood-fired pizzas, great appetizers and delicious drinks. My fiancé and I both really enjoy the spinach artichoke dip there and my favorite pizza to get is the pistachio pesto.
La Carreta
Though not personally a favorite of mine, my fiancé and his family absolutely love La Carreta. La Carreta is a tex-mex restaurant that mostly exists in Lynchburg, but does have a few locations elsewhere. Because my fiance’s family loves La Carreta so much, his siblings often make it a priority to go to La Carreta when they come visit. One of their favorite things there is the cheese dip, and on this I’d have to agree. It’s very delicious.
Hill City Pub
Another favorite of ours is Hill City Pub and this is definitely our going out for drinks spot. Hill City Pub has great bar food and great drinks. I like the flatbread pizzas, especially the buffalo chicken one, and they have amazing fried pickles. Don’t bother ordering extra fried pickles to take home with you though, they are very disappointing reheated, even in the air fryer. I know, because I’ve tried.
The Neighbor’s Place
Lastly, is The Neighbor’s Place. The Neighbor’s Place is a restaurant that is on that line between casual and upscale and makes for a great date night location. My favorite thing there is the sesame seared ahi tuna, which is an appetizer. But I found out last time we were there that they can cook the blackened ahi tuna entrée in the sesame style they do for the appetizer! Which I was very happy about.
So, there you have it, our top 5 favorite local or semi-local restaurants! If you are considering moving to Lynchburg, then I hope this blog post has been informative and helpful in your decision-making process. Thank you and I’ll see you next week!
