A Concert Lover’s Guide To Lynchburg

So, my fiancé and I love going to big rock concerts. But one of the challenges of living in a smaller city, is live music is limited to small local bands playing at bars and local events. So where do we go for all our concerts?

Roanoke

The closet place to see some bigger names is Roanoke, which is about 45 minutes away. Roanoke has the Berglund Center which is an indoor venue where we have seen Loverboy and Limp Bizkit. Another venue in Roanoke is Dr Pepper Park which is an outdoor venue. Additionally, this venue is usually dog friendly, which we liked, because we like to include our dog, Thor, in whatever we do as often as we can. So, at Dr Pepper Park Thor got to attend his first concert which was for Quiet Riot.

Greensboro

Most of the concerts we attend are in Greensboro at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, about two and a half hours away. This is a very large indoor venue and has many big names playing there. A few examples of bands we’ve seen there include Slipknot, Shinedown and Falling In Reverse.

Washington DC

If you’re willing to drive somewhere between three to four hours to get to a concert, DC is another option. We don’t often drive that far for a concert, but we have done it once so far to see Rob Zombie. This was at the Jiffy Lube Live which is an outdoor amphitheater, and it sits on the outskirts of DC, not far from Manassas.

So, if you also love going to concerts, don’t be dismayed, concerts are still something you can attend if you move to Lynchburg. You just have to drive a little! If you are considering moving to Lynchburg, then I hope this video has been informative and helpful in your decision-making process. Thank you and I’ll see you next week!
