Lynchburg is a great place to call home. It’s a city with a rich history and beautiful scenery. But one of the challenges of living in a small city is finding things to do! Whether you’re looking for activities to do alone, with friends, or with family, I’ve compiled some fun activities in Lynchburg.  

James River 

First up is the James River. The James River is a beautiful and peaceful place to go kayaking or fishing. You can enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery and t’s a great way to unwind and relax.

Blackwater Creek Trail

Next up is the Blackwater Creek Trail. This 3.6-mile trail is perfect for a short hike or bike ride. The trail is surrounded by beautiful trees and wildlife, and it’s a great way to get some exercise while enjoying the outdoors. 

Lynchburg Escape Room

Next on our list is Lynchburg’s very own Escape Room. If you don’t know what an escape room is, this is a great way to challenge your mind and have some fun with your friends or family. You’ll be locked in a room and have to solve puzzles and clues to escape before time runs out. 

Legacy Museum of African American History

Next up is the Legacy Museum of African American History. This museum is a great way to learn about Lynchburg’s history and its important role in the Civil Rights Movement. 

Hillcats

Another idea is that you can go to a Lynchburg Hillcats baseball game. The Hillcats play at City Stadium, and the games are always exciting. You can grab some popcorn and enjoy a great game with your friends or family.

Amazement Square Children’s Museum

Next, we have the Amazement Square Children’s Museum. This museum is not just for kids, but for adults too. It has interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that everyone will enjoy. It’s a great way to spend the day and learn something new.

Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest

We can’t talk about Lynchburg without mentioning Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest. This beautiful estate was designed by Thomas Jefferson himself, and it’s a great way to learn about the history of the area. You can take a tour of the estate, see the beautiful gardens, and learn about the life of Thomas Jefferson.
